Reports suggested India was servicing 2% of the US health care market via telemedicine, the authors said. The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists confirmed teleradiology was becoming increasingly common in Australia, with about 65% of Australian radiologists using teleradiology in their daily work, mostly domestically, according to a RANZCR 2006 survey. Australian teleradiology company Imaging Partners Online said the practice was growing "at a rate of knots". The company's CEO, Mr Bob Sheraton, said hospitals were using domestic teleradiology to keep up with the rapid output of images daily, and were increasingly using international teleradiology for after-hours service. He said the company's two Australian-registered radiologists in the UK were able to provide after-hours image turnaround in just 12 minutes. Sarah Colyer NEJM 2008; 358:1622-36. Back |
