ATDS

Advanced Teleradiology Diagnostic Services

Technology & Workflow

ATDS employs high-level encryption to ensure the security and privacy of health data transmission in full compliance with HIPAA standards. Our dedicated staff provides a centralized command center around-the clock, and will help to facilitate project, IT, and scheduling concerns by offering a help desk 24/7, case status in real-time and an advanced Online alert system. We receive data over HIPAA-compliant systems, secure VPN (Virtual Private Network), and public IP Networks. To ensure reliability, we employ a fully-redundant LAN/WAN network.

ATDS advanced services are provided using local web-based PACS/RIS infrastructure that securely forwards the exam to the most appropriate radiologist state of the art work stations ensuring that interpretations are submitted in accordance with common health regulations and client deadlines.

When an image is taken at an ATDS affiliated hospital or private imaging centre, it is sent directly to our Virtual Diagnostic Centre through a highly reliable Virtual Private Network (VPN). The workflow software then identifies the most appropriate radiologist based on his or her specialization and hospital credentials. Upon receipt, our radiologist performs an evaluation of the scan and dictates a written report. Final reports are then transmitted via direct secured encrypted electronic mail, fax, or into the radiology information system (RIS).

Patients’ data and reports are returned to the originating hospital. If the evaluation requires immediate attention, the local physician may be contacted to discuss the findings.

With an aging population, people delaying medical procedures because of the spiraling costs associated with a privatized system and more medical students going into more profitable fields such as cosmetic surgery, the number of practicing radiologists has been shrinking even as demand is rising. Teleradiology makes access to these medical professionals easier than ever. Through the use of Web based PACS (Picture Archive and Communication Systems), medical images can be distributed securely over the Internet. This is the basis of teleradiology; thanks to this increasingly-affordable technology, radiologists are no longer limited by location.
